Robo-Migrant ethnic series and abstract sketches created by Gloria Poole of Missouri on 27 April 2015

These 3 sketches are the ones I created yesterday after lunch, signed them of course and photographed and uploaded today.I named this first one "Robo-Migrant" of a robot picking apples in orchard powered by wifi with a tiny drone and robo-dog watching. It is watercolor and acrylic on 11 x 14 paper in my sketch book.

This is an #ethnicseries sketch [ethnic series] of an Ogallala [Nebraska] Indian and I made it with a medium I had not used before. Last year I bought a set of pencils named "Irojiten" because they appeared to be specifically for portraits. I decide to try them yesterday to create this portrait of NOT a real person. I drew this first with pencil #555 and photographed it. After I had made this sketch I googled Irojiten to find that they are a wax-based pencil because there was absolutely NO info on the container or pencils as to what medium but I knew they looked waxy. And I also used Inktense pencils which I like a lot because with a wash of water over them with a brush they produce brilliant saturated colors and become permanent. I have another oil canvas started but I am thinking on what I want to put on it. Because canvases are much more expensive than sketch paper, I tend to only paint in oils when I have a definite idea of what I want to display to world or something I want to make for my walls, or a specific inspiration in other words. Canvases are priced and sold by the size they are and they range from reasonable to expensive [for me, probably not for millionaires] . This sketch is 11 x 14 paper in my sketch book of the moment. I have various size sketch books and I tend to change that around too. I do not like painting in tiny sizes and generally do not. I do not agonize over sketches. I just make them quickly and usually easily and consider them a prelude to possibly an idea I might want to paint into oils.

This is an abstract of a guitar to represent music and a microscope to represent sciences and a microphone for guitar and a giant light bulb to be the "idea' symbol that musicians can also learn the hard sciences. It is also 11x 14 on paper in watercolor, acrylic and tempra.

One of my photos of the U S flag that I photographed this past week on walkabout to remind all I am U S citizen on U S soil in continental U S with all guarantees of U S Constitution and amendments including the first amendment freedom of press and religion.
